Coping as working mom
If you’re like me there are not enough hours in a day to be productive at work, give attention to your children and hubby, and most importantly, yourself. But I have come to realize that ‘You’ ‘yourself’ actually is the most important, and that self care is not selfish, but selfless. When it comes to all the important people in your life and being productive you need to have a mindfulness of knowing that ‘what best suits everyone is taking care of you’.
One of the best ways to care for oneself is alternative care such as massage therapy. Massage therapy can help to de-stress, detox and rejuvenate. Booking a 1 hour massage 1-2 times per month can help you collect yourself to carry on with your many tasks and pick up the pieces you may have dropped along the way. How you may ask? Massage Therapy has been shown to lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol, while increasing levels of serotonin, the happy chemical, and dopamine, which plays a role in motivation and feeling good. These hormonal shifts thus help to alleviate the stress we suffer from day to day, and promote perspective and clarity.
Take the first step
Look; I know that a massage isn’t going to get rid of the loads of laundry you probably have waiting for you when you get home. But it is a step in the right direction.
“Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life, tip toe if you must but take the step.”-Naeem Callaway
Strong, instinctive, supporting, powerful, radiant, determined, remarkable, sacrificing, genuine, grounded; the list of words that describe you goes on and on… You are enough. Once you take care of ‘you’, changes will become visible to those around you and you will see it gets easier.
